INTERSHEEN 579

SURFACE PREPARATION

Use in accordance with standard Global Marine Specifications. All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry, and free of contamination. Wash with fresh, high-pressure water, or with fresh water, as appropriate, and remove all grease, oils, salts, soluble contaminants, and other foreign matter by "solvent cleaning" (SSPC-SP1).

NEW CONSTRUCTION/MAJOR REPAIR

Intersheen 579 should always be applied over a recommended primer system. The primer surface must be dry and free of contaminants. Intersheen 579 should be applied within the specified recoating intervals (see product data sheet). Defective, damaged, etc. areas must be prepared to the specified standard. Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) and be primed before applying Intersheen 579.

REPAIR/OBM

Intersheen 579 should always be applied over a recommended primer system. The primer surface must be dry and free of contaminants. Intersheen 579 should be applied within the specified recoating intervals (see product data sheet).

Areas with defects, damage, etc., must be prepared to the specified standard. Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) and be primed before applying Intersheen 579. Intersheen 579 can be applied directly over aged Intersheen 579, after thorough washing with fresh water and degreasing, assuming the coating is intact and has good adhesion. Loose or delaminated layers should be removed to a firm surface, and Intersheen 579 or a suitable primer should be used for touch-ups before applying the full coat. Consult your International Paint representative for specific recommendations.
